Out Of My Comfort Zone, Creating A Car And Trialling A Stylised Tree

I have roughly twenty models or so that I would like to create in order to create my environment piece (I know this sounds like a lot) however some models for me will take a lot longer to create than others due to my confidence as well as modelling something I am not familiar in doing. After discussions with one of my lecturers it was agreed that I would work on the car and a tree, as these will be in my opinion the more difficult models to figure out.

This is the basic model I have created for the car. As I wanted to create a stylised feel to it I tried to push the shapes in order to create a playful feel to it. As the body is unique and of my own creation it was surprisingly quite enjoyable and easy to make. The tyres I had to have a quick look online to see the best way to create as I wanted the practicality and somewhat realistic element to them. As you can see I created a zig zag tred on them which is a requirement for tyres but also makes the overall model more interesting when looking close up.

Overall, you can see elements of the model has some slight imperfections however I think this gives a nice stylised feel to it and won’t stand out completely within the environment I envision in creating. This is definitely something I would like to come back to in my future endeavours.

The garden tree is one prop I wanted to push in a sense of stylisation and exploration. As the environment has a catio in the piece, I thought in the design process (previous project) that a cat themed tree would fit into the piece. With the trunk of the tree I made curves then extruded a mesh from it it which caused a lovely natural curve to it. To test what it would look like with a leave texture map applied to it, I drew a round collection of leaves in procreate and transferred as a tiff into Maya. I really liked how this looked as I haven't really produced something like this before but it does have some imperferections, such as the texture being flat. To solve this i would have to utilise a normal map or add some 3D modelled leaves to have a combination of 2D and 3D.
