Setting Up the Environment Layout

As throughout my time studying and being a 3D artist Maya has been the most prominent software for me to use due to industry standard as well as being able to have a free license due to me being a student, this is why I have opted to use this has for the first part of rough layout and also modelling/uvs (I have more confidence in maya than Blender). After creating the rough model I decided to create a basic lighting setup and camera set so I know what to do when it comes to Blender.

Having a rough model layout will be very useful when it comes to the last aspects before rendering, I can replace/swap out objects and also add to where I see fit, it makes the creation process easier for me to visualise.

For the overall look I want the environment to be rounded like some form of turntable so I could utilise it as a demo reel/showreel piece. I would like the base to have a natural feel so made with curves in mind so it looks more like a rock or what I imagine a piece of earth being ripped up to be like. As you can see I have not really focused on the bottom of the piece as at this time I'm more focussed on visualising the top as that is the sole purpose of the project.

After roughing out the layout I have decided to create a rough model of the main piece of the environment which is the bungalow. I wanted to do this so I could figure out the best way to pursue the prop, such as where windows should go, what the shape of the roof should look like etc. like I’ve said previously, I can swap out replace pieces when I am completing the final models.
