As I am familiar with substance, I have decided to create some potential textures from scratch, one for the walls of the house and another for the tiling. I wanted to do this as to gain more time in the software and also more options if I wish to pursue a more detailed environment.
The pink fur like texture is something I was playing around with and experimenting with to rework it to make a fun stylised texture for a fabric, something that could be contained within the Catio maybe?
The tiling texture was another interesting and fun texture to create. After taking some notes from various tutorials I was able to create a tillable texture that could be placed over a large surface area. I really like how this texture turned out however for what I would like to eventually achieve, this texture maybe too realistic for what I want. If I don't have enough time to go back to this I would like to really experiment and push the texture further to make a playful feel.
I did use other pre-made textures I have made in the past to pick and choose what was best but because they were not as successful I have chosen to leave my trial and error out of the blog and focus on the more important parts.
To help with the simplicity and stylised feel I decided to look into texturing techniques further in Blender. I only found out recently that within the software there is a grease pencil (with added line-art modifier) that turns the edges of the objects visible to the camera lined in almost like a hand drawn image would be made. I thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with this on a couple of my props for the environment so I think I will definitely use it for the props final outcomes.
