Adding Character - The Props - Part Two

As the main generic bedroom props such as bedroom and bedside tables have been designed, I now to design some pieces for Kitty and maybe some props to show the young woman's love for cats.

Cat beds surprisingly range in style and shape however I decided upon creating a cat igloo bed so it has an obvious shape and so when in production and doing camera shots the bed will be more noticeable. To add some more stylisation and 'signs' it for a cat, I thought it would be fitting to add some cat ears to the igloo. For the colour, it is a dismal grey to match items in the scene however, I want to experiment with the texturing when it comes to this. I would like to have as a soft fluffy material such as teddy fleece and a smoother material for the cushion inside so it appears more comfy for the character Kitty.

For another element for Kitty in the bedroom designing a basket and some toys I think were best as if it were reality their would be a somewhere where toys would be stored and from own experience a lot of toys which will most likely be scattered around the room. When it came to designing the toys I didn't really have a plan of what and how they would look like so I decided to base of some toys I have in my own home. As I didn't want any comparisons or connections to the environment/props I decided to colour them randomly with vivid colours. The vivid colours of the toys could represent Kitty herself, the one bringing colour and life into the young woman's world.

Rolling with the cat theme that is in the room, I wanted to add a little touch of this to something the young woman might own, such as a backpack. As this will be a nice touch to place in the bedroom, I did not want this bag to be littered with over the top hint that the young woman is very much a cat person as this would take away from the environment as well as potentially her personality. As she is quite anxious outside her own home, I would like to think that she prefers to subtly display the love of cats so it doesn't draw too much attention to herself. Because of this I decided to go with a nice simple satchel styled bag with a leather feel to it (for it to be slightly more sophisticated), with a couple of patches which are associated with cats. As it needs to be quite subtle I decided upon two very simple designs that will be noticed by the audience. One being a nice silhouette of a cats face in black and a paw with pink pads.

I think this displays the characters personality and traits very well and isn't over empowering when it comes to the design of the room as a whole.
