During the early stages of the project I wanted to create something that would represent everyday struggles and mental health in a more visually compelling way, which in turn could help younger audiences understand conditions such as anxiety and depression without saying it. Another aim of this was to also tell a personal story that meant a lot to myself without implicating this within the designs or how the story is told.
After thoroughly going through the story and changing and finalising designs to prop, character and environment I believe I have achieved this. I think one of the main aspects of the project that really highlighted what was going on within the story was the colour transitioning within the piece, from a dull dismal colour to a more vibrant environment. This transition can help pin point to younger audiences when the interaction between the young woman and Kitty, I am really proud of this idea to come out of this project so will definitely be experimenting with this before and during production as this is a unique touch to the short film.
The positive outcomes of this project is ultimately creating a fully fledged idea ready for production. The reasoning to saying ready and not finished is that the experimentation and possible further adaption may be needed in order to fully appreciate the piece in 3D. As I have a more hands on/creative mindset I do find it difficult at times to develop a story and to write it down on paper. This project has really pushed me out of my boundaries of designing props, into delving into the story and how the characters would interact with one another.
Pursuing this idea for the project has helped me pick up some good habits when it comes to designing and developing the story characters and environments. I was able to connect with the characters and fully develop traits and personalities, whether it be the appearance, personality or even items/props within the scene.
If I were to do things differently would be my time management of this project. Originally at the start of the project I had a plan of action of what would need to be done, unfortunately I feel I did not give enough time for personal matters to take up time. I know theres nothing I can do when it comes to personal matters and illness however, now that I have completed the project I know that I will have to have a back up plan that I need to prepare just incase things like this happen again. If I were to do things differently I would have created a timetable specifically for this project with every action thats needed so I could tick off or take notes.
Overall I am very proud of my accomplishments in the project as I have gone above my current skillset I previously had. Also I have pushed through my personal matters and even illness to produce a completed project.
