Before the design process I wanted to look at what and who inspire me to do what I do and what I aspire to be which is an environment artist/prop designer. I follow quite a few artists through social media such as Instagram and websites like linkedIn and Artstation, all these areas gave me a vast amount of inspiration but have chosen a few that I think best suits my passions.
I chose Bennet's piece as inspiration just because I love the personality it conveys, it shows the environment is very much lived in by a unknown character and has the quicks and likes within. When going onto the Artstation page for it, their is some form of walk round and also added ambient noise to make it feel more real. I think when I finish the designs and progress to the final stages an ambient noise could help with the feel of my own piece.
Marenco's and Belcha's work is more on the illustrative side. I really like the mixes of techniques that help make a unique feel. I will most likely look into Marenco's work in the following assignment as I think as its more towards the modelling and texturing side of things.
As I am creating a portfolio/showreel piece throughout my assignments one came to my attention more than the others, Mystery Shack Diorama by Ian Worrel. This piece is a personal project which is based of a cartoon series. Because I am thinking of having an external environment that can fit on some sort of turntable for presentation the idea of having it above something almost as if it is floating, something that could make my environment piece more unique. Looking further into this and on the projects page on Artstation a lot was shown of behind the scenes, using different techniques for each stage. To be more immersive in the early stages it looks like he uses vr to layout and shape the environment, this will be a very interesting take if were to start modelling however due to my expertise and knowledge, probably no the best course of action.
