Talking to Industry

This is going to be a short but sweet post as even though this is more today with another project I think it is important to Animation Application as well. As I am unable to currently do any work experience and travel or attend to festivals I thought the best thing to have some insight is to contact artist that I aspire and are in the area of expertise I would like to specialise in (environment or prop design). As I knew this would be a big ask towards people I have never met before, I accumulated a list of people of whom I can contact. Due to the mass emails I would be sending I have created a template email which can be altered if needed, over 20 people were contacted. Luckily I had be responded to by five people, all of which are within the industry and have very valuable experience.

I have screen shot my responses and taking notes. as well having it as a motivator for my own work. Looking at the responses I have come to realise what is needed and what extra drive will give me a boost into landing my first job using my skills.

A senior environment artist, a freelance concept artist, 3d generalist (environments) and also an associate environment artist were kind enough to give me their wisdom.

I think in the future if I were to message industry again I will stick to Artstation as I had some quick responses, social media such as instagram did not receive and responses.

Below is example of what I sent and some examples of a response/s.
