Creating Internal Props - An Object From Each Room

Like previously said during my list blog, I still wanted to design internal props. As I knew there would be a lot of design work for the exterior of the environment, I still wanted to create some prop designs for the interior to work with and also test in Blender as this is a new software for me. The following pages will show designs of a potential prop from each room of the bungalow, as I want a variety of props to design and then produce a model of one to work with.

Because in a previous project (animation exploration) I know who would live in such a place as well as designing a bedroom as a basis, having the bedroom already created helped me develop the styles of other objects that could be seen as part of the home.

To start of the designs I wanted to start with a rug that would be in the bedroom, something that I looked into but never really developed a rug idea. To keep to the daisy and yellow (associated with happiness) I thought a nice daisy rug will be best suited. Originally designing as one flower on the rug, I ended up with three just so I could play with the overall shape of the design

To keep to a soft feel for the mixing bowl I decided to create curves within the design and also have it in a muted duck egg blue sort of colour. For the bowl, I opted for a white/light grey with bumpy feel to add a bit of texture to the design if it were to turn into a finish 3D model.

To add unique-ness to the array of internal props, i decided to opt for a more unusual design for the lamp. The stand is a wooden frame with three legs for balance and a little shelf built in, somewhere you can place a decorative piece or a potted plant. For the lampshade I have been looking at different varieties but really like the look of the old styled fabric shades. To add a bit of colour I chose a orange/red tone with tassels. In reality this most likely not be feasible because a cat would try and play with the tassels so if I were to redesign or start the modelling/texturing process I may remove them.

Last of all I have designed a filing cabinet that would be situated in a office/spare room. to give a bit of continuity I thought that the duck egg blue style colour would look really nice and give the calming and relaxed feel I wanted. As the character from the previous project would be the owner of this, I thought it would be good to add a blanket or jumper on the top, something for a cat to lay on. From my own experiences I have always placed something near me while I work so my cats want to stay with me, so its like adding a personal touch.

Concluding My Work

After the animation exploration assignment this was an extension upon that, mainly focussing on the external environment and props. A lot...
