Modelling To Prepare For Practice

During the animation application assignment I wanted to specialise in the designing and not heavily focus on the 3D element, the 3D aspect will be my priority on the next assignment. Because this is the case I have come to the decision to model the filing cabinet, creating the 3D model will help me through trial and error in Blender.

Modelling so far in Blender as a newbie to the software has helped me a lot as I was a bit worried of learning a new software for a project. I have written a list in my notebook of translation of key from Window and MacOs during my first test, this has helped speed up modelling process and hopefully by the next assignment I will no longer need to look at the list.

After completing the model I have come to realise that Blender is a very user friendly software, my skills that I have learnt from Maya and sculpting software is easily transferrable. I really like how modelling, sculpting and texturing are all in one place without having to move models from one software to another.

This is obviously not a highly detailed piece as I wanted the model purely for the testing and the texturing element. This is something that has helped me more for my next assignment because I have a better understand and know what will be the best course of action for all the models I have currently designed for.

If I have time I would like to go back to this piece and add some sculpted elements and texture to the best of my abilities, this will be dependant on if I complete the exterior environment and have it rendered.

Concluding My Work

After the animation exploration assignment this was an extension upon that, mainly focussing on the external environment and props. A lot...
