Prop Designs - The Catio

For the catio, a space for a indoor cat, i wanted to create a basic/simplistic rectangular shape with more focus within it. For the outside I would like to create a wooden frame with a mesh like material.

As you can see to the left I was playing around with prop placement and thinking of what would be best, I saw the catio as a individual environment as quite a few aspects will need to be added.

I looked through potential layouts for the inside which varied in different props such as shelving, seating, plants, a bridge etc. I didn’t want it too simple or too complex so I decided upon the to sides (pictured to the right). I believe that even though the idea consists of quite a few elements it is not too complex and will be a intrigue when it comes to the finished 3d piece.

All the props will need to be designed and some (not all) will need to show some form of personality and love for cats.

I think one of the most standout props I have been really enjoying developing is the cat themed bench. Even though this is not in the real world I was thinking of how it would be created and if it would be a feasible object. the carved cats would most likely be glued or screwed into the piece and the cat feet for the legs could be carved into each leg or maybe if the bench is repurposed, carved then fixed into place with a screw.

I wanted to add some greenery to the catio by adding a plant. To be more realistic I looked into various cat friendly plants as I didn't want to design something that in reality would be poisonous. I used Pinterest for this and have pinned for future reference also.
